MPI graduate Sam Kadi, who graduated Motion Picture Institute in 2007, was awarded Best Foreign Feature Documentary at the 2016 International Family Film Festival. The award was for his documentary Little Gandhi, which was filmed in war torn Syria. Sam had previously directed and produced the award winning feature film The Citizen in 2013.
