Akoma Wins Film Challenge Detroit - MPI News -  Motion Picture Institute in Troy MI - alex-_akoma

MPI grad and independent filmmaker Alex Gasparetto's film Akoma was the winner of the 2nd annual Film Challenge Detroit. Akoma followed the romantic, but dangerous relationship between a black slave an affluent white woman. As result of being crowed the winner, Alex and three others won a trip to Sundance Film Festival. The crew was made up predominantly with Motion Picture Institute talent, past and present. Lucie Gillepsi was the writer and star of the film, and Cinematography instructor Robert Skates was the Director of Photography.
