Standard Tuition Payment

Tuition for the Motion Picture Production Program is $13,995 for US and Canadian students and $15,500 for international students.
A one thousand dollar ($1,000) security deposit (non-refundable after three business days) -- which is included in the tuition -- is due upon the signing of the enrollment agreement. This deposit secures the student\'s seat in the program. 

Checks/Credit Cards/Money Orders

Motion Picture Institute accepts all major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.  Checks or money orders should be made payable to Motion Picture Institute.

In-House Payment Plan Options

Motion Picture Institute offers payment plans up to 30 months (for domestic students) for the Motion Picture Production Program.  Up to 8 months for the Motion Picture Actors Program.  Payment Plan Application and Payment Options Worksheet please contact us at: 248-528-1760 or
If approved Motion Picture Institute will draft a monthly payment plan based on the number of months selected that best fits the studenstudent\'st. All plans are subject to interest rate charges. Applicants with low credit ratings will be required to have a co-signor. All plans require at least a $3,500 down payment (that already includes the $1,000 deposit) prior to the start of the classes.

Third Party Lenders

Students may also contact third party lenders or loan providers such as banks or credit unions. Students must be 18 years of age, a US citizen, have a credit score of 640 and be employed.   Loan amounts are based on income.  If a student does not have established credit they may have someone (such as parent or spouse who does meet the criteria) take out the loan.

Motion Picture Institute is an approved school under the Michigan Merit scholarship program for high school seniors.

Motion Picture Institute awards a $13,000 scholarship to a selected Best of Show winner at the DAFT Michigan Student Film Festival.  Other Merit scholarships are available throughout the year for high school seniors.


Motion Picture Institute is NOT eligible for Title IV funding or Federal student aid from the US Department of Education. As a result, we do not have a school code for the FAFSA.

GI Bill/Department of Veteran Affairs

We are recognized by the Department of Veteran Affairs and are eligible to accept GI Bill and VRAP funding.
